A little background: I first heard this song a few years ago and had been  wanting to share it with you all somehow.  When it finally occurred to me that I could just post an mp3 on this blog, I wasn’t able to figure out just how to do that.  Either the audio upload function is broken or we don’t have a version that does that sort of thing…  I don’t know.  Anyway, I do know that I can upload video, so I decide to make a montage with some footage I took of you guys, that I never ended up using for anything.  In fact, I think yesterday was the first time I ever looked at the footage!

There wasn’t quite enough for a 4 minute video but I figured I could share a little spring time imagery from my back yard, since everyone was writing about spring anyway.

It’s almost warm enough to start playing in the garden this year. K and I made it out there on Sunday to do a little cleaning up and pruning. Seeds soon!

We’re also trying to do a little spring detox – laying off alcohol, refined sugars, processed foods, etc. So far we’ve been good. Last night I made polenta with sauteed veggies and meatless meatballs. The day before, I made a yummy pureed green soup with rainbow chard, lots of mushrooms, leeks, and other good things. I think we both realized we needed it when we’d sit on the couch and demolish a bag of chocolate. Yeah. Not pretty.

Work things are going ok – I’m trying to get to 100% full time next year (I was at 90% this year and had to teach 5 classes one semester to get THAT).  I have a great relationship with my colleagues and the students, but I’d like to be rewarded a little more for all that I do here.

Is it reunion time yet???

Some memorable moments during the screening were when a guy shouted out “That guy is an asshole!”  referring to the narrator/subject.  And another man shook my hand afterwards and said he really liked the cinematography.   Also, the entire theater shouted “Right on Jackson” when I introduced the film as a documentary about community gardens.  About the asshole comment, Dan reassured me that Tucsonans just don’t understand New Yorkers.

Just a quick update: I’ve started a business with a pal of mine- Mon Starr Handmade Handbags.  Right now we’re on Etsy, but we plan on working out some consignment deals with local shops around town in the next few months.  I also started a blog about organic beauty products- Green In The Face.

Oh and what ever happened to my favorite Etsy store Moxie and Mojo?  Seriously Mandy, your oils were the best.

we had a brunch complete with baked french toast and fake bacon, with a side of fruit salad gone wrong(sorry guys!) and then strolled off to lansdale’s morgan house, a restored quaker log house. we were the only tour in the past 160 days perhaps and the tourguide’s pace went from snail to faster snail —there were some cool things about the house and she picked up on our interest in harvest rituals and corn mothers. we then stopped at a local farm for a fresh pumpkin pie, where harvey the hog greeted us with a godawful stench.

the kids did not want j&j to go! neither did i! safe travels guys! xoxox emily

It’s me dressed as Kali for a secret party on a secret boat in the BK. Wee!  The experience was surreal.  They made me an altar 5 feet above the floor with cables hanging from the ceiling and then filled my altar with candles and offerings.  I took my position at 10 p.m. and finally came down at 6 a.m.  After telling Sherene about my experience, (she is a follower of Kali) we both agreed at certain points Kali had mounted me.  I feel so honored and blessed to have been able to do this for her (Kali) and look forward to the next party.  Here is a pic.  I hope you all enjoy.

finally remembered the name of this site and catching up on posts!  i like the ode to zombies one  and all the lisa wedding talk . i’m sitting here in my house with a sleeping baby in the lap-everytime i get up she wakes so i just sit and sit and sit! i have to say, she is very diffferent than lucas. way more mellow…lets us sleep some nights too! ella had us running around last week with docs and hospitals because of jaundice but it wasnt a problem, and i wasnt worried. the docs are a little nutty and insisted on draining her wee foot of blood daily to check for ella’s yella levels. she is fine now. she did me proud finally coming out 8 days late, but once she decided to come out, look out! i woke up on sunday at 6:30 in mild (really mild) labor and by 8:00 i knew and called my mom to come help with lucas,,,who was getting more and more frightened by mom’s disappearance every 10 minutes to deal with contractions in the bedroom. went to the hospital at 10:30…already 6 cm dilated and by 12:47 there she was! phew. that pic of her and david was right after her birth! she was very alert. no inducing, was a close one!! she has dark hair but looks a lot like lucas when he was born, but with long slender fingers and toenails…like a piano player. nursing has been going well, she gives me no pain there either! her full name is ella violet . lucas is adjusting but nighttime is hard when he wants to come into my bed and we have to try to explain to him that he must not. i feel pretty guilty at that point. i think the boys just got home from their trip into philly:) i hear car doors. miss you all! love, em
